IAM Lincolnshire - Christmas Message

Posted on 21/12/19 |
Dear all

We are very pleased to report that 2019 has been another record-breaking year for our group.

During the year, we delivered some 130 Taster Drives, most of which were generated by our very successful external presentations. In addition, we have recruited over 100 new associates; a 100% increase on 2018!

As a result of this increased activity, we are pleased to have been able to expand our observer team and at the same time, introduced a Training and Development programme to support their activities.

A major highlight of the year was the successful negotiation of the 100 place Young Driver Initiative with the Police and Crime Commissioner for Lincolnshire, Marc Jones.

During the early part of the year the IAM carried out a restructuring exercise, as a result, we were asked to take over the delivery of car courses in the Boston area and we subsequently changed our name to IAM RoadSmart Lincolnshire. As a part of this restructuring we were very pleased to welcome Boston car members our group, as well as two of their experienced car observers who joined our observer team.

Our presence on social media continues to grow. We share much of our work on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube (@IAMLincolnshire) along with interesting content on driving and travel throughout Lincolnshire. With nearly 1000 followers on Twitter, we’d love to make it past this milestone before the New Year! With this in mind, whether you are a member new or old, please give us a follow at www.twitter.com/iamlincolnshire.

It is rewarding that all the work we do, under the IAM banner, is recognised and has a positive impact on road safety in our county. The CEO of IAM RoadSmart, Mike Quinton, has recently described Lincolnshire as an ‘exemplar’ group. We could not have achieved this recognition without support of our observer team and our valued members. Special thanks must go to our volunteer observers, who give their time to help others develop their driving skills and undertake the Advanced Driving Test – we could not do it without you and look forward to continuing the success with you throughout 2020.

We are looking forward to next year with enthusiasm and one thing we are sure of is that it’s going to be another busy one. Meanwhile, we would like to thank you all for your support and to wish you a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful and safe New Year. We look forward to seeing you all again in 2020.

Roger and Ashley
Chair and Vice Chair - IAM Lincolnshire
