Who are Oxfordshire Advanced Drivers?

Porsche2lite

Oxfordshire Advanced Drivers (OAD) was formally created on 2nd October 2019 from a merger between the car members of the Oxford Area Group of Advanced Motorists (OAGAM) and the Banbury Advanced Motorists group (BAM).

Founded in 1961 by a number of enthusiastic motorists, OAGAM quickly became a very successful and thriving local IAM group.  The group began to recruit equally keen motorcycle members and eventually grew into a combined car and motorcycle group.  In recent years, OAGAM committees began to find it particularly onerous and time consuming to manage the disparate needs of the car and bike interest groups.  In time, a split into separate car and bike groups seemed an ideal and inevitable solution.

With the encouragement of IAM RoadSmart, motorcycle members of OAGAM left to form Oxford Advanced Motorcyclists (OAM).  Car members from the Oxford area then joined up with those from Banbury to form an IAM group serving the whole of the county, along with parts of Northants and Buckinghamshire.

Oxfordshire Advanced Drivers has a loyal membership of around 200 members.
