Join IAM RoadSmart and rally legend Paddy Hopkirk for spectacular car and bike hill climb event

Posted on 05/09/16 |

IAM RoadSmart will be attending and exhibiting at the increasingly popular Kop Hill Climb event in Buckinghamshire later this month, along with its mature driver ambassador race and rally legend Paddy Hopkirk.

And a mystery guest, currently on a peak-time TV show, will also be making an appearance on the IAM RoadSmart stand.

Paddy, who won the 1964 Monte Carlo and 1967 Acropolis Rallies, as well as competing at the Le Mans 24 Hours and countless events around the world, will be racing a replica of his famous Monte Carlo Mini at the event. Last year the event attracted more than 16,000 visitors.

IAM RoadSmart will be at the event for the first time this year. Paddy and our mystery guest will be at the IAM RoadSmart tent talking about the Mature Driver Assessment – which he and our guest have both taken.

Paddy has also taken the Advanced Driver test twice – 27 years apart.

The Kop Hill Climb is a spectacular event which grows in stature year on year. Hundreds of cars and motorbikes are brought in by their owners to take part in the hill run, which are all waved off by flag in traditional racing style.

The event is a family-friendly affair, with a funfair, soapbox challenge, children’s zone and a fearsome motorbike wall of death.

Paddy said: “I am really looking forward to talking about my work with IAM RoadSmart to the thousands of people coming along to the Kop Hill Climb, as well as blowing off the old cobwebs and blasting up the hill in a replica of my old Mini! It will be a lot of fun and I look forward to seeing you all there.”

The Kop Hill Climb takes place on 17 and 18 September at Kop Hill Road, Princes Risborough, Bucks, HP27 0LB. For more information visit www.kophillclimb.org.uk
