Reward your #HeroOfTheRoad with IAM RoadSmart this New Year’s Eve

Posted on 29/12/16 |

In the run up to New Year’s Eve parties as the nation says farewell to 2016, IAM RoadSmart is making sure the UK does the right thing and encourage drinkers to entrust their car keys to the true heroes of the road – the designated driver.

IAM RoadSmart, the UK’s leading road safety charity, is making sure partygoers reward their designated drivers during their evening out, and pay for their drinks or dinner so they are included in the evening’s celebrations.

IAM RoadSmart is offering afternoon tea at The Savoy in London as a competition prize – all entrants have to do is tweet a picture to the IAM RoadSmart Twitter page using the hashtag #HeroOfTheRoad, showing your designated driver being celebrated by his or her group of friends.

The campaign has won the backing of former Formula 1 World Champion Nigel Mansell, also IAM RoadSmart president.

He said: “Often racing drivers are seen as heroes. But to me, the real heroes of the road are those who make sure their friends and family get home safe and sound during this season.

Our designated driver competition runs until 8 January. Entries can only be made on Twitter, submitted to the page @IAMRoadSmart and should use the hashtag #HeroOfTheRoad in the tweet.
