Report on 38th Annual General Meeting

Posted on 07/10/22 |

Chorley Advanced Motorist’s 38th Annual General Meeting was held at Chorley Community Fire Station on Tuesday 4th October 2022 at 7.30pm.  It was a small but select group of eight members who attended to hear the Officers' reports and vote on the motions before the meeting.

The Secretary’s report confirmed that the Charity Commission report for 2021 had been submitted and the report for 2022 is being prepared.  The Treasurer had submitted the accounts for year 2021/22 in advance and explained the key differences from the previous financial year to the assembled members.

The meeting went on to vote on nominations for the Committee and Auditor and all were unanimously voted in, including three new general Committee members who we are delighted to welcome to the team.

Following the sudden and shocking death earlier this year of our Chair Bill Evans, our new Chair, Chris Davis, paid tribute to Bill’s contribution to the Group in his six years in the role.  Chris thanked Bill for his quiet authority in meetings, his ongoing commitment to recruiting drivers to our courses and his continual sharing of the advanced driving message, particularly with young drivers.

Chris then went on to report on the previous year on Bill’s behalf, thanking people for their contributions including in the areas of observing, Associate recruitment, financial management, Observer training, technology/IT advice, Associate co-ordination, website management/update, and newsletter production.  In his own address to the meeting, he set out his thoughts for the year ahead.  Key areas include a development plan for the group and the recruitment of more Observers.

Questions were then invited to the Committee, which were general about driving and technology, rather than specific about CAM, before the meeting closed at 8.15pm.

Full minutes will be prepared and available in due course.  If CAM members have any questions, please contact us and a member of the Committee will be delighted to answer them.
