Our first course of 2023 has begun!

Posted on 13/01/23 |

Associates and Observers gathered at Chorley Community Fire Station last Monday for the first induction evening of 2023.  Seven new Associates, including three under 25s, started their advanced driving journey and will have their first observed run this Sunday.

Julie W, CAM's Publicity and Recruitment Lead, said "It was wonderful to welcome such a range of people to CAM and especially to welcome our three younger drivers to the group.  Statistically, young people are the most vulnerable drivers on our roads.  Lancashire has a high proportion of rural roads, which are the most challenging and statistically dangerous.  Worryingly, the KSI (Killed or Seriously Injured) figures for our locality have increased over the last 12 months, so we are particularly delighted to work with Lancashire Road Safety Partnership to offer the course to under 30s at a vastly reduced cost (£49 reduced from £175), helping our local young people become more skilled and safer drivers."

You can read about the benefits of the course from a recent Associate in Ben's Story, or if you'd like to hear from an Observer's point of view, then Paul's Perspective is for you.  IAM Roadsmart remains dedicated in 2023 to its charitable purpose of reducing the number of road deaths in the UK.  Why not join us for the journey and play your part by taking your driving to the next level - it's a wonderful way to start the new year!

We are delighted to be able to say that this course is fully booked but spaces are available on future courses.  If you or someone you know is interested in advanced driving, why not contact us.  We’d be delighted to talk to you.  At the moment we have a special offer of £49 for under 30s which includes all practical on the road guidance, books, membership fees and test fee. For more information, please see our Discounts and Offers page.

Alternatively, if you’re not sure about taking the plunge and booking a course, you could always book a short taster session with one of our IMI National Observers to get an idea of what you can expect.

Whatever your thoughts, we’d love to hear from you and look forward to welcoming you to our friendly group.
