Help spread the word... 'making (cornish) riders safer'
May 2023
CAM observers work to make bikers better, safer riders. How about having one of our trained IMI observers assess your ride for free? Road traffic incidents involving motorcycles in Devon and Cornwall have increased over the last few years as have fatalities. It’s time this changed. Then you might see the value of the advanced rider course too.
‘Despite motorcyclists making up less than 1% of overall traffic they account for roughly a third of all serious and fatal collision in our area’. (Head of Roads policing- DCP). Deaths and serious injuries have increased over the last two years.
Remember- you can book a FREE rider assessment too- see what we do and get feedback on your riding. Use the contact us tab above or click here
Our subsidy scheme working in partnership with Vision Zero South West is now fully subscribed.
If you are yet to take your advanced test and not a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists then click the box below, to sign up for the course (you will get one year’s membership for free and they will forward your details to us). Further information can be found on the ‘Taking an advanced riding course’ link below, or click here
Cornwall Advanced Motorcyclists (CAM) was founded in 2001 when the local IAM motorcycle section was formed as a sub group running alongside the Cornish IAM car group. CAM is now an independent group and charity in its own right having completely split from the car group in 2005 and remains affiliated to IAM RoadSmart.
CAM’s key objectives are to give guidance and support to prospective advanced riders who wish to take the IAM RoadSmart Advanced Riding Test having enrolled for the IAM RoadSmart Skills for Life course and to encourage the development of our existing members to promote road safety and maintain their IAM RoadSmart membership.
It is also CAM’s aim to organise social and training events for full and associate members that will enable them to ride with others who value safety and courtesy and that they will enjoy as members of an active and successful motorcycle club.
Our volunteer Observers provide the coaching and support to our members and share a common passion for motorcycling and the desire to share their knowledge and promote road safety.
IAM has teamed up with the following local dealers- if you buy a new or second-hand bike from them and ask, they will give you a code to use when you sign up that gives you a 10% discount to the first year of membership.
JD Racing KTM Saltash | BMW Ocean Falmouth | Damerells | Cornwall Kawasaki
Our Advanced Rider course will help make you a safer driver and could save you money.
