Advanced Driving Books

Two books are recommended as background reading for advanced driving:

IAM RoadSmart Advanced Driver Course Logbook. The definitive guide to passing the IAM RoadSmart Advanced Driver Test. The book is an overview of safe driving technique incorporating how the System of Car Control can be used in the negotiation of hazards. IAM RoadSmart provides all new Associates with this Logbook.

'Roadcraft, The Police Drivers Manual'. For those requiring a deeper understanding of advanced driving, e.g. Group Observers or the keener Associates, then this is the book for you. There is a greater emphasis on the use of the System throughout this book. Roadcraft, however, should not be used as a definitive guide to passing the advanced test.
