John Coe's Dales Adventure 27th April 2024

Posted on 29/04/24 |

Thank you to those T5 members that joined in the adventure on Saturday, to take in well used routes to our Dales,…. easy peasey, just put the destination into your SatNav / Phone, and enjoy the day,….. most importantly, have a really good back marker / sweeper ( thank you Pete ).

T5-er’s were already at the start point, Tim’s Cafe,… Pete, John C, Brian, Phil, and John H, and the lead for the day arrived with the bare minimum of time to spare, well at least I wasn’t late :-)

A few that would have joined for the day had other commitments in the form of a meeting at the Motorist at Sherburn

The pre ride brief boxed off, the rough outline for the day was out the Thorpe Arch car park and turn left, and left again, etc., most important to get that sorted and from then on it’s following the leader, to Fewston Farm Shop, then onto the Creamery at Hawes, to Brymors , and homeward.

The Roman Road, across the A59, then westward Ferrensby, Scotton, Killinghall, past the Army Foundation College, and that lovely section of bends before the Sun Inn, Brian demonstrated is local knowledge through them was a sight to behold, past the reservoir and finally to the Farm shop.John Coe

After the T&P heading off across the really, really quite A59 ( due to be opened again late June ), onto GreenHow Hill, stopping briefly for fuel at Threshfield, ….. not quite as quiet on those roads, possibly due to the A59 closure, or some Classic Car event locally, ( Pete and Brian reminiscing whist John H topped up with fuel ).

Onward to Kettlewell and branching off over Can Gill Road to West Witton then to Hawes. As we Parked up at the Creamery, Tim, Dave and Lawrence joined us for lunch, John H had departed as he had other commitments.

Apologises, for the long script at this point, which hopefully won’t continue for much longer, if I’d posted a map it would shorten this considerably.

The group split at that point, some heading off home but,Brymors beckoned the balance Pete, Dave and Phil made our way for pudding, and a brief shower made for a pleasant sit inside and a chin wag.

Finally, we headed off homeward, led by Pete, and it back to our loved ones.

Thank you again to those who joined the Full Day ride, even though I managed to post it as a Half Day :-(

Thankfully after some guidance from Mike Walker and Chris Otter, they saved the day.

Fingers crossed those T5-ers that aren’t able to join us of late, due to injuries, my / our best wishes to a speedy recovery.
