4th March - A Wiggly Wander Through The Wolds

Posted on 08/03/23 |

Well, I did describe the ride as a wiggly wander – and it certainly was that.

Turning left out of Squires for a change, ten of us braved fairly low temperatures to head to Selby via Wistow.  Unfortunately, on the other side of Selby, Alan B had a problem with his clutch and so had to head back to York.  We continued on and arrived at our first stop, the Wolds Way Café just outside Market Weighton, after around 90mins.  A brief wait, one mug of tea and a very runny egg roll later, we headed off towards Filey.

On the approach to the coast I kept think I was seeing Alan B’s blue Triumph in my mirrors but – that couldn’t be the case, right?  Well, it was – turned out he’d managed to go back to the Triumph garage in York, get his clutch taken off, repaired and had caught up with us just as we were leaving the café!

Miraculously we managed to fit four bikes in the single solo motorcycles space right next to the RLNI and the others just next to the (closed) loo.  Fish/Jumbo Sausage/Chips/Curry Sauce etc., later and we were ready for the off.

A quick hop back to Seaways for afternoon tea and a slice of cake.

All in all a great day out, if I do say so myself!

As always (and I keep telling myself this) leading a ride really is pretty easy and fulfilling.  If you’ve not done one – give it a go, everyone’s very supportive.  And, as we all know – u-turns are mandatory at least once a ride! I certainly DID NOT GO IN A LOOP AROUND KIPLINGCOTES LANE. No, definitely not.

See you all next time!
