John Coe’s bimble to the North Yorkshire Moors, 21st May 2022

Posted on 26/05/22 |

13 T5-ers congregated at Squires on a pleasant Saturday morning, along with Anne’s half day group, with immaculate Dave in his ever clean textiles :-)

For the full dater’s, it was the brief as to, where, back marker ( Pete, thank you as you are a star for keeping us all together), and distance/ timings etc.,

The routing was fairly straightforward to Masham, right out of Squire’s car park, Saxton, Tadcaster , Cattal left at the A59, across the A1, ( well done to Mark, for phoning Pete, after a few missed a marked junction ), Flaxby, Arkendale, Burton Leonard, Grewelthorpe and into a busy Masham, not just market day, but like minded bikers, the peddlers too.

After, a few T5-ers departing due to other commitments, the balance of the group head for Fryup.

Bedale, Northallerton turned out to be trouble free,… well, up front it appeared to go okay, heading out to Brompton and briefly onto the A19, then to Carlton-in-Cleveland, Chop Gate, a slight period of dread as signage indicating Road Closed, … fortunately it was closed beyond Clay Bank CarPark, but we were heading for Ingleby Greenhow, Castleton, and to Fryup, Yorkshire Cycle Hub and Lunch, surprisingly, one T5-er had to contact his wife to check if he had sugar in his tea :-)…..

Next stop, Fimber, and Chris was good enough to lead the way, avoiding the road to Rosedale Abbey which on Wednesday had only just been regraded, making the experience an unpleasant one on that day.

Thank you to all those T5-ers kind enough to sign up for this ride, and would like to think that it was memorable for the right reasons.
