Following the significant change in Government advice about Coronavirus (Covid-19), Officers and Committee members at YAM have discussed the ongoing situation. We have also earlier today, seen advice from IAM RoadSmart’s senior management team who have issued guidance for us to consider as a group.
With immediate effect therefore, we have suspended all training activities until further notice. Mick Elsworth, Head of our Training Team has issued guidance to all Observers.
Meetings, Social Gatherings and recruitment activity will not be held until further notice. For those members who have passed their test and ride out with Team 5, sadly Team 5 sponsored activities are also postponed until further notice, this includes the SOT meeting that was planned for 11th April.
In addition to this, advanced riding tests and assessments are suspended until further notice. All re-qualifications for Local and National Observers, Fellows and Masters are also suspended until further notice.
In light of these recommendations and actions, where an associate's membership expires, it will be extended, at no additional cost, for up to a further six months to enable all associates to complete their coaching and take their test without disadvantage. We will not be providing refunds of course fees.
As a group, we will continue to monitor and follow the Government advice, which you can find on gov.uk and NHS Direct, and on Public Health England, Health Protection Scotland, the Public Health Agency in Northern Ireland and Public Health Wales.
We will keep you regularly updated as this pandemic evolves and hope to resume normal service as quickly as we are able.
Thank you in advance for your understanding.
