John Coe’s non challenging ride to the Yorkshire Dales, 20th August 2022

Posted on 21/08/22 |

A good turn out for the two T5 rides meeting up at Squire’s on Saturday.

14 T5-ers for the full day adventure that headed off for Fewston Farm shop and cafe for the T&P, and the Hawes Creamery for Lunch, followed by the compulsory stop at Brymor’s on the way homeward.

The briefing for the ride boxed off, and the T5 photo taken even though a few stragglers were missing, … empty bladders and full tanks .

The routing for the day was pretty much standard, but a ride is a ride, and would like to think that it made for a pleasant day on our bikes.

Thrown into the mix was the usual abundance of pedal powered bikes, trying not to buzz them too much of course :-)

A good few groups of Horse’s on the way to the T&P that should have been getting ready for Ebor, though all went well with the encounters, a frisky one or another two, but hey no drama’s.

Very briefly, the route to Fewston was, Tadcaster, Boston Spa ( avoiding the high street ), Pannal, the Army College over the A59, Darley and the Farm Shop, and, …..Arriving just in time to avoid the rush for refreshments of a group off pedal powers.

Suitably, refreshed, 13 T5-ers headed off to the Creamery, via Greenhow Hill, Grassington, Kettlewell had the Scarecrow Festival on and was well attached but we managed to pick our way through, and West Witton then onward to Hawes, as usual for a Saturday, busy, probably down to the cheapest price for Petrol,…( a fallen branch taken down a tractor delayed part of the group, so arriving a tad later, for lunch ).

Thank you to Alan for his splendid role as sweeper, and keeping us all together, but had to leave as he had more pressing commitments today, luckily Pete stepped up to the challenge and therefore we were still in good hands.

A welcome lunch and a visit to the cheese sampling and we were on our way.

The weather had been okay with the occasional shower, with a blustery wind adding to the mix, nothing too daunting, … Brymor’s beckoned.

The routing for that took us on that fine road where we pass Castle Bolton, to Wensley, Middleham and Brymor’s.

Thank you to Pete for leading us homeward after pudding, and to all you T5-ers for today and, hopefully you all arrived home safely.

J
