Rural roads - the biggest killer?

This report looks at the background to rural road accidents in the UK. In particular, single carriageway rural roads carry the biggest accident risk and the greater likelihood of and death or serious injury, once an accident does happen.

Location, time, weather, and driver behaviour are all investigated to show when and where rural roads are at their most dangerous.  It makes significant recommendations for upgrading road design and the need to include rural roads in the driving test.
