Banbury Advanced Motorists

BAM was always a car-only group.  We do not have details as to when exactly it was formed but their two longest serving members joined in 1986 and we do know that BAM was active for a good number of years before that.

In 1998 the Daventry IAM Group merged with BAM, bringing approximately forty members.  This move provided a well needed boost and BAM went from strength to strength with the number of test passes rising to the high twenties each year during the 2000s.  The perimeter of the area covered was roughly defined by Daventry, Brackley, Bicester and Chipping Norton.

Since then the number of new Associates joining BAM steadily declined and the level of test passes reduced proportionately.

In those earlier days BAM had an average of 15 Observers.  This gradually reduced to a team of ten achieving a pass rate between 80% and 90%, including a number of F1RSTs.

BAM brought around 110 members to become founding members of OAD.
