Advanced riding is not about slowing you down on the road, it's about helping you to become better at predicting hazards and being more confident whilst making your riding safer, smoother, and more enjoyable. Improve your riding by applying for the Advanced Rider course.
Come and Meet Us!
We meet at 10:30am every second Sunday of the month just off the A24 at Dial Post Village Hall, RH13 8NJ.
If you are new to the group or are thinking about taking an IAM RoadSmart Advanced Rider course, then a member of the committee will be available to answer any questions you have. Head for the coffee bar and lounge area within the car showroom and grab a tea or coffee.
In The Beginning….
West Sussex Advanced Motorcyclists was formed in 1999 by Sussex Police motorcyclist Martin Cooke with the idea of helping riders get the safest and best use of their machines, this was before the days of Bikesafe and we have grown from a handful of dedicated motorcyclists to a membership of 250.
We have many different riders from Harleys to Sports bikes and everything in between. We cover all of West Sussex, but membership is not restricted exclusively to those living in the county.
All our observers are volunteers, fully trained and qualified, with most holding the national or local observer qualifications regulated by The Institute of the Motor Industry, the country’s leading quality assessor for the retail motor industry. Observers undergo a rigorous training programme to ensure they meet highest possible standards. A number of our observers also train on track at the IAM Skills Days and are members of the regional training team.
All advanced riding tests are carried out by Class 1 police officers to ensure that the IAM standard is uniform throughout the country.
We're also on Facebook.
