Funding for Young Drivers for the Advanced Driving Course
New Funding for 20 places now available for 2020/21
The Gloucestershire Police and Crime Commissioner has granted funding for young drivers over the last 4 years to complete the the IAM RoadSmart Advanced Driver Course in support of his safer and social driving campaign. This course normally costs £149.00.
The course consists of an "Introduction to Advanced Driving Seminar" currently held online over two Saturday mornings quarterly and a number of drives in the applicants car, on a regular basis, being coached by a qualified IAM RoadSmart Observer. The number of drives required depends on the capabilities of the driver, but the average is about 8.
To Qualify for the Funded Advanced Driving Course, you must:
- Be under the age of 26;
- Have a full UK driving licence
- Live in Gloucestershire
- Have use of a car
- Be keen on improving your driving
Refundable Deposit for the Funded Advanced Driving Course
A £50 deposit is required refundable on taking the Advanced Driver Test at the end of the course. Applicants will be expected to complete the course and attempt the IAM RoadSmart Advanced Driver test. Places are limited so failure to complete the course may incur reimbursement of the full cost of the course £149. On application, a driving assessment will be carried out to ascertain suitability and commitment, after which a course will be allocated.
How to Apply for the Funded Advanced Driving Course
