Why should you take it?

Part of being one of the best drivers on the road is the awareness that there’s always something new to learn to make yourself even better.

As well as honing your expertise, this course will equip you with the knowledge needed to stay safe on the road and provide you with a new set of skills to make each journey more enjoyable than the last.

Your Advanced Driver qualification could also lead to lower insurance premiums, which means the course may soon even pay for itself.

What can you expect?

Once you’ve received your welcome pack, you’ll be invited along to your nearest local IAM RoadSmart group where our friendly team will put you through your paces on the road.

These observers, all Institute of the Motor Industry qualified, will take you out in your own car for highly immersive sessions to ascertain which areas of your driving may need attention.

You’ll practice specific skills at an advanced level, including control, observation, timing, optimum road positioning and how best to deal with unpredictable roads and other road users’ behaviour.

To add to your enjoyment, you’ll be part of a group of like-minded drivers and you’ll have plenty of opportunity to share your experiences and new-found knowledge with them.

As soon as you’re ready, you’ll take the challenging, but highly rewarding, Advanced Driving Test. After that, you will, of course, be widely recognised as a fully-certified expert driver.
