Our members tell us time and again that the best introduction to developing advanced skills is to experience it for yourself. Riding or driving with one of our qualified Observers will enable you to fully appreciate the skills and knowledge that you'll acquire on the full course. With this in mind, we’d like to invite you to come and take a short drive or ride with one of our Local Groups for free.
During your free taster session, one of our friendly Observers will show you some of the skills and techniques that it takes to pass the Advanced Test. They’ll also be pleased to answer any questions you may have about the full course. Everyone is welcome, all you need is a full licence and your own car or motorcycle.
Our free taster sessions are your chance to experience our Advanced Driving and Advanced Riding courses. They are not an independent assessment of your driving or riding, rather an introduction to the full course which should help you decide whether it is right for you.
Please note, you must hold a full licence and your vehicle must be taxed and insured with a valid MOT if required.
The free taster session lasts around an hour, usually arranged at a time and location convenient to you - although some of our Groups host drives on set days and locations. It is a relaxed and enjoyable experience with the opportunity to ask questions.
There are no special requirements and the offer is open to everyone, providing you have a full licence and your own vehicle. You'll gain some new ideas and skills, plus get a feel for whether the full course is right for you.
Advanced Driving teaches you techniques used by the emergency services, including utilising the ‘limit point’ for bends and how to continually apply the ‘IPSGA’ framework to all on-road situations.Learn more about Advanced Driving
Our course brings your riding up to an advanced level, helping you to control the position and speed of your bike with skill. Our course also teaches you how to analyse on-road situations and create a ‘safety bubble’.Learn more about Advanced Riding
