Want to enjoy your driving more? IAM RoadSmart announces extra Skills Day at Thruxton circuit

Posted on 07/05/19 |

IAM RoadSmart has just announced an additional date for its highly rated Skills Days for car drivers – Wednesday 28 August at Thruxton Circuit.

The Skills Days are run by IAM RoadSmart’s team of in-house experts. And there are places left at only two car Skills Days and five bike Skills Days in 2019 – so don’t miss out!

Skills Days are the perfect way to learn about what you and your machine are capable of; exploring on a famous UK race track how to enjoy your driving or riding to the full, but in a safe controlled atmosphere.

They are open to anyone with a full car or motorcycle licence, and any road-legal car or motorbike – it doesn’t have to be a high performance one. You do not have to be an IAM RoadSmart member to take part.

Skills Days involve working either one-to-one in a car, or in a very small group on motorcycles with a dedicated instructor.

Drivers and riders taking part can expect to learn new techniques and gain greater understanding about the capability of their car or motorcycle.

Expect to learn about your own capabilities and that of your car or bike; entry, apex and exit points, how they vary from road to circuit; where to brake, when and how much to brake, how it feels in an emergency; controlled, progressive, smooth cornering; and how to use the accelerator or throttle to add stability to the car or motorcycle when cornering.

Skills Days with places remaining are:

Mike Quinton, IAM RoadSmart Chief Executive Officer, said: “We will help you unlock the secrets of getting the best from your car or bike, how to handle your machine to the best of its capabilities, without risking yourself or people around you. Safe driving and riding can also be fun and our Skills Days are the key to that.”

Motorcycle days are £149 per rider (full day), car days are £135 a driver (half day).
