The IAM RoadSmart annual awards returns this Autumn to recognise and celebrate the significant achievement of our volunteers, groups and partners.
Members of our community, as well as partners we work with, have a significant impact on the delivery of our purpose: making roads safer for all.
You can help us recognise the fantastic contributions of individuals, groups and partners by nominating them for our awards through the buttons below. If you are unsure of what your nomination should look like, please read our guidelines.
Award Categories
Group Volunteer of the Year Award - Driver
This award is for a volunteer/member driver within a group who’s shown outstanding achievements in support of the IAM RoadSmart values and objectives. Individuals must be nominated by their group. The original trophy is a silver rose bowl presented to IAM RoadSmart in 1969 by the late Fred Welch. Fred was a member of the Liverpool Group of Advanced Motorists and was the first group member to be elected to the Council of IAM RoadSmart.
Group Volunteer of the Year Award – Rider
This award for a volunteer/member rider within a group who’s shown outstanding achievements in support of the IAM RoadSmart values and objectives. Individuals must be nominated by their group. The trophy is in memory of the late Lord Strathcarron, who was a very active motorcycle rider, being the first motorcyclist to take the IAM RoadSmart advanced motorcycle test in 1976. He continued riding motorcycles until he was into his 90s and was an IAM RoadSmart Council Member from 1973 to 1992.
Volunteer of the Year Award – Driver
This award is for a volunteer driver who isn’t a member of a group and who’s shown outstanding achievements in support of the IAM RoadSmart values and objectives. Individuals can self-nominate or can be nominated by another member – such nominations must be endorsed by an Area Service Delivery Manager. Individuals can also be nominated by staff.
Volunteer of the Year Award – Rider
This award is for a volunteer rider who isn’t a member of a group and who’s shown outstanding achievements in support of the IAM RoadSmart values and objectives. Individuals can self-nominate or can be nominated by another member, such nominations must be endorsed by an Area Service Delivery Manager. Individuals can also be nominated by staff.
Group Partnership of the Year Award
This award is for an IAM RoadSmart group who worked with an external group, organisation or company and developed the most effective and impactful partnership in support of IAM RoadSmart objectives. Groups can submit a self-nomination, which will need to be endorsed by an Area Service Delivery Manager. Nominations can also be submitted by the Area Service Delivery Manager.
The Awards ceremony:
The Award Ceremony took place on Thursday 14th November 2024 at the IAM RoadSmart Head Office in Welwyn Garden City.
Each winner and runner-up attended in person and was presented with a certificate of achievement and a prize.
