You will be aware that IAM RoadSmart has developed a strong working relationship with Mental Health Motorbike, a charity which seeks to support the well-being of the motorbike community, with an ultimate aim to reduce suicide amongst bikers in the UK. They are building a free, dedicated national mental health network of trained mental health first aiders (MHFA's) who can support bikers and their families across the UK.

The partnership are keen to see local IAM RoadSmart Groups have 2-3 trained Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA's) within their group to support this.

The training normally costs in excess of £320.00 per person. Through the fundraising that Mental Health Motorbike undertake, it is possible for IAM RoadSmart Groups to access this for £199.00.

This internationally recognised programme run by MHFA England offers the following:

  • Support for individuals to develop improved understanding around mental health
  • A toolkit to use with someone in crisis or needing support
  • Greater confidence and ability to support others (family, friends and colleagues) around their mental health supporting them to access professional support where necessary
  • How to look after yourself - a focus on your own self-care.

Mental Health Motorbike will also be delivering an IAM RoadSmart member-only webinar on 30th January 2024, which will be filled with useful tips and advice on looking after your own mental health or supporting someone else. Please sign up here if you would to attend.
