The course delivers advanced riding stemming from the police’s Motorcycle Roadcraft riding manual, helping you to improve your skills, anticipation, and riding enjoyment.
What's Involved?
The course is based on a series of observed rides, leading to the advanced riding test during which you can showcase your newly acquired advanced skills..
Once you've booked the course, you'll be assigned to one of our 90 motorcycle groups around the country. You'll be paired with an observer from your group, who will accompany you on rides and advise you on how to develop your riding to the advanced test standards.
The test itself lasts for about 90 mins and usually covers 30 - 40 miles along a variety of road types. During the test the examiner will thoroughly assess your riding ability according to the different road conditions. You'll negotiate various hazards and situations, utilising the skills and techniques that have been developed on the course.

How much does it cost?
Our Advanced Rider Course usually costs £215, but is just £193.50 for you as a Bikesafe rider. This includes as many observed rides as you need to become 'test ready', the test ride, the course manual, and your IAM RoadSmart membership.
